The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, and Age of Prophesy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.
Let the Dragon Ride again on the winds of time.
Welcome to the home of As the Wheel Weaves, a MUD based on the best-selling Wheel of Time series by author Robert Jordan.
As the Wheel Weaves is a long-running, multi-user, text based game where you can interact with dozens of people from around the world. Explore thousands of rooms in hundreds of zones, do battle with evil, or seek to bring darkness to the lands. Sail the high seas and climb to the tops of the mountain peaks as you seek to complete quests and find new lands.
Players can choose to belong to any of the dozens of Wheel of Time races -- even aiel, trollocs, fades, and others while working with or competing against other players in the quest for fame, glory, and power. If you prefer roleplaying to slaughtering, AWW is highly role-play encouraged and there are several code features in place to support it.
Come along for the ride and you never know, you may not want to leave!
Connect and play using our Java enabled client, or point your favorite MUD client to aww-mud.org port 6500. Note that some users have experienced problems entering a valid password when using the Java client.
AWW is currently undergoing a massive rebuild. We are adding tons of new code and new areas, including a brand new overland map, a multi-class based system with a brand new remort system, and world maps which are much more realistic in regards to the Wheel of Time world. We welcome you to come and enjoy a MUD which offers true Wheel of Time roleplaying experiences, and that rewards you for playing your character!
World Map
Over the next couple to a few weeks, depending on how much time I find that I have, the size of the world map will be increasing greatly. As it stands now, the map is turning out not to be big enough to hold everything we want it to, and walking across the continent should be a more daunting task than it currently is. The size of the main continent map will be increasing by at least 5-fold, and quite possibly 10-fold.
In addition, I may go ahead and add the Seanchan and Sharan continents into the map, as well as the Isles of Madmen -- complete with all of the water in between.

We welcome Saindore to the AWW team. Saindore comes to us with a wealth of coding knowledge and a love of the Wheel of Time. For those who have not seen the changes he has already put into place, you really should log in and have a look.

In the current voting, both skills and weaves, and support code are tired neck in neck. This tells me that there are a lot of people who are tired of non-WoT skills and spells, and/or who want better support for guilds, such as Aes Sedai and Black Tower. I have already fixed a lot of the non-WoT spells...
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that support code should be the focus. In the previous incarnation of AWW we had a pretty darn nice guild support system, and it should not be terribly difficult to port that system to this new incarnation of AWW.
Over the next couple of weeks, expect to see changes to the guild system, including chat channels, guild commands, the who list, and even commands that you type to accomplish certain ends.
While these changes occur, expect bugs. They will be remedied as quickly as you report them -- and please keep in mind that you must report bugs so that we know that they exist.

A new contest has been created for members to cast their picks for who should appear in the first installment of the Wheel of Time movie. Check the forums for details. Pick the actor or actress that you would like to see cast as your favorite Wheel of Time character.
MUD players will receive a weekly in-game prize as the Immortals choose the best pick from all submissions.
Likewise, a best-of-choice reward will be given to the most popular pick from all players. The originator will win an additional reward for their submission (MUD players only).
We are currently looking for ideas for rewards for forum-only users. Please submit your ideas!
Please see the forums for full details.

The forums section was removed from the welcome page of the website, but can still be accessed through the forums link on the left menu bar. The reason for this is that I wanted to add some more text to the front page in order to hopefully increase our search ranking a little. By adding new text with some additional keywords, I hope that this pays off.
I've also added a news section, which can be seen by scrolling down below the welcome text. In essence, news has taken the place of forums on the welcome screen. If this turns out to be a bad idea on my part, it can easily be changed back.
